Repost of an article from last May. Watching August Rush right now. It may be time to do something irrational, which may be the sanest thing you can do. Click here to check out Farewell To Fear.

I was taking two girls to school in the morning…my daughter and her friend. The talk got around to what we’ll do that night. My plan was to write and pop in August Rush.
I’d seen it before, and had a very emotional response. It puts me in a good place to create.
Sabrina (not my daughter) had also seen it, and loved it. One criticism she had though: she thought it was unrealistic.
I understand. If things go too far afield - if they seem out of the realm of possibility you lose the ability to buy into the story.
Here’s the thing (and I won’t give anything away for those of you who haven’t seen it yet. It was amazing)…
The movie was unrealistic for someone whose view of reality is constricted. If you have a narrow vision of what the world is supposed to be like, it’s because you’re either young and inexperienced (like the delightful Sabrina) or you’ve been playing small.
As the Talmud says, “We don’t see things as they are. We see things as WE are.”
I told Sabrina my point of view…when you see things bigger than they are in the moment, what you believe to be possible becomes bigger as well.
And when you believe in bigger possibilities AND you’re worthiness to be part of them, reality starts to warp in strange and wonderful ways.
Sabrina is a great kid. She understood. It’s fun to talk to a 14 year old that way. She opened herself up to new possibilities.
What was even more gratifying was watching my daughter. She stayed quiet, but I saw the head nodding in agreement in the passenger’s seat. She spent most of her life being exposed to big thoughts, big risk taking and big ideas from her mother and me. It explains why her life seems to be going so well up to this point.
How about YOU? What’s real? Have you already decided? Are you shutting out crazy, delicious, scary, wildly satisfying possibilities?
Or are you throwing down with your best angels, like August Rush? Are you following your bliss?
Believe me…your bliss wants to be caught and embraced!
Dream Big! Bigger than you thought possible. Your reality will change to accomodate your dreams.
Your Unrealistic Friend,
Larry
