I know what you’re thinking. That statement above contradicts the title of this post. Seems reasonable.
Take a look at the exchange I had with a lady on Linked In. All the names have been deleted to protect people’s identities.

PERSON: Thanks for the add. I am having a hard time figuring this all out. Are you connected to (name deleted)? So far, no income. I have been at this since last September.
LARRY: Hi (First name). I don’t know (name deleted) or what you’re up to. We have to change our awareness before what we do follows. Best, Larry
PERSON: Well I figured you are a social marketer online. That was the impression I got from you on the Boundless Living Challenge. I have changed my awareness and working on my subconscious mind for six years now. But I still didn’t get the $1,000,000,000 yet. Working a lot on this. We’ll see. (name deleted) makes about $1.4 million in four hours. I figured you knew since you’ve been at this for a while.
LARRY: I am not a social marketer. I am a trainer, coach, entertainer and author who uses social media to promote the things I do. I get to know people and let them get to know me. My intention isn’t to make $1,000,000,000. The money comes as a benefit of the relationships that are built and the energy you invest in people and they invest in you.
As for (name deleted) making $1.4 million in four hours, that’s wonderful. Anytime we start comparing ourselves to others it becomes a losing proposition. If you come up short you feel bad. If you beat someone you’re looking over your shoulder.
Don’t worry about your million dollars, (first name). Come from a place of fun, service and commitment to bring VALUE to the lives of others and add to your own value as well. The money comes as quickly as you grow into it.

It’s the truth, and our better angels know it. I use social media, and I’m getting better at it. The response from others tells me I reach people.
And yes, I do make money at this. That’s based on the learning, the growing and the value I bring.
At some point “social media” will disappear. Just like other online and offline things that came before, the social media wave will change and lose its momentum. The “next big thing” will take its place.
Do you want to be the person who got very good at something that no longer generates income? Me neither.
Do you want to have the skills, attitudes and value that lets you reach people and EARN a great income forever? Me too.
Read. Learn. Study. Get the skills of social media.
Be YOU. Be the most loving, authentic and effective version of you you can be. Figure out what you can contribute to other people’s lives that will enrich them - and you.
Have a fantastic week!
Your Friend,
Larry
